"Syncing Ancestry and FamilySearch records"

Alan will compare and contrast the two programs, focusing on the unique benefits of each and how to keep your records synchronized between the two programs easily.


Presenter: Alan Jones

Alan Has been doing genealogy research for 49 years. His education included a degree in Computer Science. He worked all his life in the computer software arena. This includes being a tester for various genealogy programs such as FamilySearch and many personal computer genealogy software programs. His training has included many seminars, training classes, and spending time in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Working in Family History Centers in various states. When he has time, he works on his own and other peoples’ family trees, speaking at genealogy & historical societies. He also has done indexing both for the 1940 and 1950 US Census and many other projects. Now retired, he lives in NE, Ohio. Alan says his work is because of his love of our ancestry. We all have progenitors who deserve our respect and to be acknowledged.

A review of Family History records and resources from Northeast Ohio, when the area was known as "The Western Reserve."


Presenter: Todd Albrecht

Todd is a native Clevelander, having grown up in Avon Lake and currently residing in South Euclid. He is married, the father of three, and grandfather to one. Todd has been researching his family history for over 30 years and loves everything associated with Genealogy. Besides working on his own research, Todd is a local family history consultant, a FamilySearch indexer, and an arbitrator. When not working on some aspect of family history, you may find Todd talking to someone about some aspect of family history.

Family History is the world’s most common hobby. People are helping people everywhere. You just need to know where to look. This presentation will demonstrate many of these FREE sources that are ready to help you from the comfort of your home, library, or in a FamilySearch Center. The presentation handout provides a list of online places to get free help.

Learn how they stack up for the total amount of digitized content, geographic coverage, unique features and tools, subscription options, and more. My tips, encouragement, and comparative analyses will help you more confidently choose and use newspaper websites.

Sunny is a Contributing Editor at Family Tree Magazine, Content Director at YourDNAGuide.com, and award-winning writer and editor. She is known internationally for her comparative analyses of major genealogy websites and story-building strategies and has expertise in U.S. records, particularly U.S. church records.
